International Phalaenopsis Alliance -
Following the very successful IPA Symposium at the Peterborough International Orchid Show in June 2009 plans have been developed to reorganise and increase the profile of the IPA in the UK. Funds raised at the Symposium will be used to support this re-launch. Peter White has taken over as the IPA’s UK regional director and is currently putting together plans for 2010. Peter plans to have two IPA meetings a year in the UK; this year will be at the BOGA Fair at Dinton Pastures in August and the BOGA Show at Knowle in November. Also a UK news letter, possibly a trip to Phalaenopsis nurseries in Holland in 2011. The hope is to have some of our meetings linked with the orchid shows of UK Societies (get in touch with Peter if your society is interested and has a suitable show venue).

A joint venture has been negotiated with the OSGB to help promote the IPA in the UK. For a trial period the OSGB Journal will feature a special Phalaenopsis section (advice on cultivation, new developments in hybridizing, species etc.) in each of its quarterly editions. IPA members can sign up to receive these OSGB Journals at a special rate.
Starting in January 2010, membership of the IPA-UK will be £10 per year and for an extra £10 members can receive the four editions of the OSGB Journals for 2010. Existing members of the OSGB will be able to affiliate to the IPA-UK for £7 and will be entitled to join in with any IPA events.
